Sound Remedy - Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (Sound Remedy Remix)

I love remixes of classical music especially when they're well done. A quality remix of classical music combines the beauty of the classical music with the power that electronic music allows. Also, both electronic music and classical music are commonly void of vocals and so both genres rely on the listeners imagination as they take listeners through an audible journey that moves listener's physically as well as mentally.

Today I found an amazing remix of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata by Sound Remedy. It is long and slow burning, dark, enchanting, intriguing, and somehow relaxing at the same time. Definitely worth a listen.

Nero - Promises (Skrillex & Nero Remix)

This original to this song, Promises, was a cleverly constructed dubstep/drum&bass collaboration with Nero and Subfocus. It hit hard with dubby womps, but moved along with quick dnb pace. The catchy and dramatic vocals combined together with the beat to make an incredible song.

Then,  a remix was released this week by Nero and the almighty Skrillex. It is UNREAL. Of course, the intensity of the song has been increased exponentially. It goes from moments where the vocals sing out acoustically with subtle piano notes in the background, and then it slowly builds until heavy face-melting bass drops. This is an epic remix, perhaps even the dubstep anthem of the summer.

Pretty Lights Does DUBSTEP

Yes sir, Pretty Lights does dubstep in a big way with this new song, I Know The Truth. To accompany is an amazingly sick video of their Bonnaroo performance. AMAZING STUFF. I wish I was there!

Butch Clancy - Pumped Up Kicks Remix

Butch Clancy has a knack for turning amazing indie songs into even more amazing dubstep remixes. His remix of Band of Horses - The Funeral was probably one of my favorite remixes ever. He just released a pretty incredible remix of Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks. I love the original to this song -- its incredibly catchy and I never thought it would be remixable, but Butch Clancy made it happen:

Skrillex ft. 12th Planet - Needed Change

It's been a while since I've blogged anything! But, since I've graduated college, I'm going to start blogging a lot more often.
The new song by Skrillex and 12th Planet, "Needed Change", is chaotically brilliant. It juxtaposes this ethereal yearn for a needed change in the chorus with a womp that sounds like something that should have been in the sound effects of an Exorcist sequel. It's horrifying and beautiful at the same time. This is an ability that only Skrillex has the ability to accomplish. Thematically it works to because he both yearns for the needed change and then with the womp recognizes the pain and difficulty of such a change whatever it may be.
