Audiodax "The Annexation"

This new mixtape from Audiodax (an upcoming group featuring Krypton Flo and Temble) took me completely by surprise. I knew that they could make some amazing music (as evidenced by their first two singles "Matter of Time", and "All the Koalas"), but I honestly thought that the rest of the songs on this mixtape would just be filler for the first two singles. But, almost every song on this mixtape is dank.
First-- you have the two covers. "Gravity" is a unique, pop-minded take on the Modest Mouse song, "Gravity Rides Everything" and it completely reinvents the song with Temble's smooth vocals and Krypton's reasoning flow. Then, their cover of Vampire Weekend's "Horchata" is equally as impressive--it is one of my favorite Vampire Weekend songs and it sounds damn good with Flo added in.
My personal favorite is "Uh-Oh" with Constant L. Burts. This song has an unbeleivable beat that could set any dance party off the chain. The quick give and take between Constant and Flo definitely doesn't hurt either. Then, "Right Way" and "Pretty Girl" are two of the catchiest songs ever.
I might be biased about these guys because they are both friends and fraternity brothers, but I honestly believe they have something real special in this mixtape.

CHECK IT OUT.

Tiesto in Melbourne Preview

Tiesto just put up a preview to his concert video in Melbourne and it looks ridiculous.

It reminds me of the wild times I had at Ultra Music Festival back in March. You can check out those videos here.

I Am Robot And Proud

I just saw I Am Robot and Proud at the Edible Audible Picnic in Chicago's Millenium Park. Some really chill, relaxing electro-pop. Check it out.

In For The Kill

Driving late at night with one of my dudes last weekend, the Skream remix of In For the Kill by La Roux came on and it reminded how ridiculously powerful music can be. Another great slightly different remix of this song is on Major Lazer's new mixtape (both are below).

By the way, Major Lazer's mixtape which blends hip hop, reggae and techno is a MUST download.

Airplanes Remix

When B.O.B.'s Airplanes first came out I was a  huge fan. But, like so many popular songs, it was played too much and got old very quickly. Now DJ Megaman has breathed new life into the track. The energy starts right away with amped crowd sounds and then the reworked Airplanes busts out and it is tight.

All the Koalas=SONG OF THE DAY

California Girl

This new song by Cisco Adler with Schwayze is definitely cliche, but it is definitely catchy summer jam material which is pretty much guaranteed with anything that Schwayze gets his hands on.

Passion Pit with Dank Covers

Passion Pit has recently released some unbeleivable covers. My favorite is a cover of The Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, Tonight" that they did for some Levi's marketing campaign. It adds a new dimension to the song by replacing Corgan's anguished voice with Angelakos's yearning falsetto. This may be a marketing campaign, but it definitely has produced some quality music with covers by Nas, The Dirty Projectors, the Shins, and more. Passion Pit also recently covered "Dreams" by The Cranberries which is also dank. I am pumped to see them on July 4th at the Taste of Chicago fo FREE.

The Introduction

For a long time, I have had an eclectic taste in music. My range goes from folk rock to hip hop to techno and just about everywhere in between. A few months ago, I discovered the Hype Machine and this siick site introduced me to the music blogging world. Now, I've decided to try my own music blog on for size. My goal is to share what music I'm digging at the moment and to try and uncover some new music for the world.

And so it begins.
