Slim Thugz - Living Dreams EP

This EP takes chill electro to another level. Its got the mood of chill jazz, with all of the interesting fluctuations and beats of electro. Imagine if Pretty Lights and Ratatat had a baby and then gave it a little bit of Valium: you'd have Slim Thugz. This music just grooves and grooves with a sultry flow. It's chill but its underlined with a powerful energy that keeps you movin' and groovin'. It's  the perfect jam for studying or a long car ride.

Childish Gambino

If you haven't heard of Childish Gambino, you should check him out. His rhymes are creatively hilarious and you can tell he puts his all into every rhyme. He's got more personality than any rapper I've heard in a long time. The first song he released "Freaks and Geeks" is by far the best. From the beginning it hooks you in and it never lets go as it pounds you with dank rhyme after dank rhyme. O yeah and did I mention that he is the black guy from Bro Rape and other Derick Comedy skits?

Star Slinger released a remix of Freaks and Geeks recently and its pretty tight.

Band of Horses- The Funeral (Butch Clancy Dubstep Remix)

This dubstep remix of Band of Horses' epically sad, The Funeral, is one of the best remixes remixes I've heard in a long time. He is able to change the song for the better by giving it more intensity with powerful dub beats. But, at the same time, he still preserves the beauty and the tone of the original song. The emotional ache of the original vocals is untampered and the chords of the original guitar chords are still present. His womps never go over the top--which is extremely rare with dubstep remixes.

I first heard this song a few years ago and it was the first I had ever heard of Band of Horses. It is one of those songs that moves you emotionally and gives you goosebumps right away. I would have never thought a successful remix could be done of this song. This remix is sure to impress even though most adamant of dubstep haters. So--here's to Butch Clancy.....

New Deadmau5

Earlier this week, Deadmau5 released two new tracks on his Soundcloud. Since they are on his Soundcloud, they are probably not going to appear on any of his albums, but they are still quality tracks worth listening two. The first track HR 8938 Cephei is an epic 10 minute slow burner. It has the heavy kick drum that you would expect from a 10 minute rager, but it never quite breaks out--it just keeps you going with dynamic synths. The second song, Bleed, is extremely chill and ambient. It definitely is not a typical Deadmau5 sounding song, but for what it is, its really quality. You are not going to put this on to get a party started, but it has great vibes for extreme chillin--possibly napping. It kind of has the mood of Explosions In The Sky (my favorite music to nap to). Enjoy!

let the BASS CANNON KICK IT

Flux Pavilion. Probably my favorite dubstep producer of all. This song certainty does not disappoint. Bass Cannon--womp anthem of year thus far. The drop is one of those moments when your whole body fills with wompy delight. I don't know how he does it, but Flux's music always fills the soul with a delicously deep wobble. Word on the street is that he is coming out with an album sometime this year. I can't wait.

NEW BRITNEY SONG IS TIGHT

The new Britney Spears song--Till The World Ends--surprisingly is amazing. It's got a dub-influenced dance beat, catchy chorus, and a euphoric autotune. This is the perfect track to get people up and dancing and I now have respect for Britney Spears. This is future of pop music.
